Sustainable Cities & Climate Change
The role of natural green areas in urban sustainability
15:15 - 16:15 (22/03/2023)
Plenária 1 (Azul)
It has been a repeated discourse that the balance between natural areas and urbanised land is being redefined every day, and, it is also known that the effects of the significant reduction of natural green areas and the proportional increase of urbanisation are intensifying climate change. At the same time, in addition to this significant issue, there is much to learn and understand about the benefits that natural green areas can offer to the sustainability of cities in a variety of aspects. The session aims to add forces to the first debate by exploring new value arguments from a forward-looking perspective on the role of natural green areas for a healthier and more promising future of cities.
