Innovation and transfer in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology

Biomedical innovation is predicated upon technology transfer and collaboration among diverse stakeholders within the ecosystem, who must work in concert to translate frontier research into tangible solutions that reach patients in the form of treatments, vaccines, or diagnostic solutions. Biotechnology companies have precisely specialised in bridging one of the most critical links in the transfer chain: converting scientific discoveries into technology. In fact, the majority of them emerge from research conducted by public research centres, universities, hospitals or CSIC or ISCII. In this session, key stakeholders within the biomedical innovation ecosystem will collectively contemplate the opportunities and challenges Spain faces in driving technology transfer within the Spanish biotechnological and biopharmaceutical sectors. One of the objetcives outlined in the Cutting-Edge PERTE (Strategic Project for Economic Recovery and Transformation) includes ensuring collaboration and coordination between the scientific community and the business sector.
