Arquitectura Avanzada & Diseño
Rebuild, Rejuvenate and Reinvent the Role of the Architect
11:00 - 12:00 (26/09/2018)
Sala 1 - Arquitectura Avanzada & Design
Although architecture may be one of the oldest professions in history, it has and is undergoing great change, especially at present. From the ideas of the lone hero to “starchitects” to boutique firms to all-service firms to different forms of alternative practices that exist today, architects have always grappled with issues of identity and professional roles. The search for meaning beyond the figure of the “author” or designer has to do with globalization, technology, rapid urbanization and recent social issues of a magnitude never before seen. Facing these challenges, the questions become: how do we make architecture more relevant for society? What are effective forms of practice today? And, who are our clients and how might we effectively engage with them?
